MARY FURNISS + ROGER SMEBY

A Stockholm based artist couple Mary Furniss (b. UK) and Roger Smeby (b. Sweden) were working on their collaborative project called the Sick Times.
During the residency they researched the alchemical applications of stones and crystals in esoteric healing practices. Sick Times, encompasses drawing, sculpture and installation and explores themes such as the transformation of biological bodies into precious stones.
Mary Furniss (s. Iso-Britannia) ja Roger Smeby (s. Ruotsi) ovat tukholmalainen taiteilijapariskunta, jotka työskentelivät Oulu-AiRissa yhteisen Sick Times -projektinsa kanssa.
Sick Times on yhdistelmä piirroksia ja veistoksia installaation muodossa, joissa taiteilijat tutkivat eri kivien ja kristallien alkemiallisten vaikutusten käyttöä vaihtoehtohoidoissa. Samalla pohtien biologisten kehojen arvoja ja niiden muuntautumista arvokiviksi.
