An anthropologist from Ukraine returns to the war-torn country where her family and friends have stayed. At a time when imperialist russian (!) forces are attacking Ukraine and want to occupy most of the country, people are fighting, surviving, and trying to save their own culture and identity. At that time home photos in albums or shoeboxes are becoming part of collective memory. These are a few intimate stories about the meaning of vernacular photographs in the lives of people representing different generations. Close friends of anthropologist show their private photographs and share family stories, emotions, and personal experiences against the background of the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine.
